A few devs asked me for 2.2 SDK port for N1 - it'll be here in about 30 mins (76.1MB) - http://www.romraid.com/paul/nexusone/r15-emu-n1.zip

2.2 looks like a stunning leap forward, that's the most Android has changed since 1.6, maybe even since release

Indeed, SenseUI is nice for social and locale integration but that is it, Stock Android (and other launchers) offer more performance and visual presentation.

theres a bootable froyo for nexus ones out there,

crashes every few mins and nothing works, but its bootable. Big step!

I'm going to work on making it stable after it's ported to the G1 as well.

For now this is nothing more than a vanilla boot image, and the emulator system image.

I'll deal with it more (like i said) after i boot it on the g1.

Instructions:
1. Power off Device.
2. Hold VOLUME DOWN, and power it on.
3. Select FASTBOOT.
4. from your computer "fastboot flash boot nexus-boot.img" ( http //stevebirstok.com/android/nexus-boot.img )
5. "fastboot flash system froyo-stock-emu-system.img" ( http //www stevebirstok.com/android/froyo-stock-emu-system.zip )
6. "fastboot reboot"

Enjoy (or try to ) Froyo.

This will crash every couple minutes, and not everything (if at all) works.. no key maps or anything.. like i said, at least it boots.. i'm going to boot it on the g1, then we'll work out the fun stuff!

Given that my video camera IS my phone, there won't be any video from me, but I present you with this:

All I've learnt is that the text in tiny, probably something to do with it being off the emulator. Oh, and I'm glad to be back on 5.0.7 Test 2

How is the resolution so high?

If you save a screenshot via the sdk what resolution is the screenshot?

you can change the dpi setting in build.prop, makes stuff look smaller.

the amount of icons stays the same the spacing between them will just get bigger.

EDIT: just lowered dpi in my build.prop on the G1

makes fonts smaller so may be more useful when browsing.
