Just minutes ago, Google tweeted two links with plenty of information about Android 2.3

it's not leaked, it's the official announcement of 2.3 and the nexus S, and I already posted it in the nexus S thread

when is gpu accelerated GUI coming to android - this will make it feel more polished - afterplaying with WP7 android feels it needs fluid transitions.

^^ yes - i have a desire and launcher pro goes some way to add smooth transitions but you cant say its buttery smooth like WP7.

lets be clear tho - i'd still take android over any other mobile os.

WP7 is buttery smooth and fast no Android phone I have used is the same.

because it doesnt have an accelerated UI like the iphone and winmo7 have.

without it, android stutters at times and it really annoys me

2.3 brings GPU accelerated UI. One of the reasons perhaps the Nexus S has been said to be very fast in its operation.

Don't think I've ever really noticed any stuttering on my DHD but have done on previous phones but IOS and WP7 aren't free of any stuttering either.

And I haven't noticed any stuttering on my i5700 either with FE 9 beta 1 (2.1 with some of the essentials of 2.2), apart from the odd time though in some games (due to samsungs crap 3D and 2D drivers though, hopefully be sorted with the new rewritten ones).
