According to Engadget's latest article we have some new info on Gingerbread. Seems FroYo will remain on lower end phones but those with 1GHz CPUs and at least a 3.5" screen as well as 512MB RAM should be inline for the update.

At least I'm certain the Desire will last the 24 months I'm on contract for then :p

Android 3 notesL

- 1280x760 support
- Completely revamped UI unlike any current Android version
- System requirements! (see link)

Exciting times for the majority of us who have Snapdragon phones then :p

1280x720 for tablets and screens larger than 4" :)

I can SMELL an iPad pwnerer right there.

They're not killing off the likes of SenseUI.

They're killing off the requirement for Manufacturers to bake their UIs into future Android updates like currently (2.1 to 2.2 for example and SenseUI).

Android 3 is modular so core components, Android apps and so on are said to be individul and not a part of say SenseUI.

I guess they're following the the footsteps of Windows where the core can be updated endlessly but the Visual Style remains customised by the manufacturer.

This way OTA updates go out to everyone at the same time.
