Android 3.0 to be released October~, hardware reqs aplenty.

Gunna be waiting for the official 2.2 update on my desire for a further 3 months or so, can't see me getting this without rooting.

The platform is getting way to fragmented, hopefully 3.0 will start to remedy this by making everyone get the OTA updates at the same time.

I think this is what I am going to do now. I'm due a upgrade 11/9 but will hold off until my contract is fully over and get a 12 month contract on out of the box Android 3 phone. :) (18months on the same phone is painful...)
 
i think this is gonna be aimed more at the ipad alliterative touch screen tablets and pads. i can't see this making it to many of the current crop of phones

I'm drooling at the thought of a Motorola Droid X type phone with a screen resolution like that, which Android 3.0 can support.

The Droid X already comes with a 4.4", 854 x 480 display. They could increase the resolution, keep the screen size the same and call it Retina Display :D
 
the one thing that worries me with android is the level playing field, and what support will exist, for the example the htc hero only a year old? looks like 2.1 is as far as it will go, and what no updates? all these different versions and platform will be tricky to support in 12 months time
 
I have about a year left with my Milestone. I'll be behind the times for roughly six months then. That really isn't the absolute end of the world. :)
 
Umm...why isnt any one complaining? Steep specs = expensive phones = poor battery life = resource hog = not very well optimised?

Anyone remember xp -> vista?
