Hi everyone,
I've been struggling with Youtube getting clear 360 video, even with 40mbps. I found it's much better to download 360 videos from youtube (with 4K Downloader or similar) and I see a massive difference playing the media offline!
I've experimented with the resolutions, and I'm keen on playing back from the full 4k source file. Currently my phone can't playback larger than 1080P, however, in some cases 2K files do work and the difference is great!
Notice that this resolution is spread across 360 degrees and you actually see a much lower resolution in your FOV. It's not a meaningful restriction to disable or restrict 4k if your phone does not have a 4k screen.
Does anyone know the maximum playback capabilities of common phones? I'm doing trial and error to see if resolution or bitrate matters more, 2K 360 videos sometimes run, sometimes don't on my Galaxy S4.
