Android and iOS app development, costs?

Right, I'm no programmer and I've got an idea for an app that could/should work quite well. I won't say too much about it as I'm still developing the ideas.

I've got a few questions though:
1) Are there any developers that I could get the project developed with? If so can you point me to them?

2) Do any independent app developers make money from Apps, ad revenue or paid apps?

As for earning money,

Make a free APP with ads.
And a paid one with none

Yes. Lots.
Cheapest I've seen would be our friends in India who will work for around £200 a day. If you want to stay in this country and get a free lancer, it's about £700/day and if you want a agency you're talking mucho moolah.

I've made a few hundred quid by simply making a couple of crappy soundboards. The clientele of the iPhone seem happy to part with their 99p very easily
