Hi

I'm a long time Apple iPad user and just jumping to Android. I have Samsung Tablet now and generally enjoying it. There are a couple of things though:

On Safari I can swipe from the left or right edge of the screen for forwards and backwards (so takes me back a page) the only way I can see on the Android tablet is to use the button in the bottom right corner or on the browser itself, is there anything like this on Android?
Edit: Sorted this one, using Chrome / Edge seems to work how I want it
Reddit application isn't exactly great, is there any recommendations for a replacement?

Lastly are there any recommended apps to make life easier?

Thanks!

Personally I use gesture controls instead of 3 button navigation. If forward isn't something you're too bothered about, gesture control lets you swipe from either side and that does what the back arrow does on 3 button navigation - that means it opens up the possibility of using other browsers, such as Firefox. This will allow you to use ublock origin adblocker. (honestly I can't picture the internet without an adblocker these days)

Failing that, edge has an adblocker built in, but it might not be enabled by default.

Reddit - I just browse it on firefox. I've blocked the annoying prompts with ublock. Though since you're looking at the app, there's probably some functionality that you want from an app that browsing on a browser won't give you.

Libby for accessing your local Library.

Librera for reading books (though I use the F Droid version).

You could look at different Launchers - Microsoft Launcher, Lawnchair, Niagara and Nova come to mind. Though gesture navigation on 3rd party apps is a bit hit/miss. I think samsung is supposed to be pretty good for it though.

Google apps work well enough IMO - Gmail, Photos, Files, Clock etc.

Not sure what else to suggest tbh, my tablet is only used for web browsing, reading books and reading manga/web comics tbh.

Reddit changed their 3rd party API a good while ago which unfortunately pretty much killed the 3rd party app scene unless the developer pays them a lot of money, but there is a way to patch these apps to keep them working (via ReVanced manager which swaps the developer API key with your own personal key that's still free to use). Currently using Boost which offers a much better tablet layout and a lot less buggy than the official app, but it does lack support for polls and chat since Reddit never made those available via the API.

Thanks for the replies I changed to the gesture commands and they make it much more usable rather than trying to press buttons at the bottom of the screen. The reddit app is a pain but I'm trying a couple of alternatives (I'm not sure why it doesn't rotate). Libera has been really good (after changing a few settings).

I'll have a look at Boost. Thanks again for the replies.
