Is there an android app that will keep ..say..100MB of ram free?

so if more is used an app is auto killed?

i keep getting a slow phone on occasion and its always when there is less than 100MB ram free

if you use an app to keep 100mb free then how will it help as nothing will be able to use that 100mb so it might as well just not be there, android is pretty good at handling RAM itself.

Not needed, Android deals with RAM very differently from Windows. Here's a nice article on why you shouldn't bother with one: http://www.androidcentral.com/ram-what-it-how-its-used-and-why-you-shouldnt-care

I remember using an app to free up more RAM on my old Xperia PLAY as it had only 512mb RAM, but honestly it just made the phone a tad more annoying to use and didn't make it feel as smooth. Switching between apps was the most painful, as the RAM manager app removed it too fast, even on relaxed settings.

Look at it from a different viewpoint. You've essentially asked if there are any apps available that reduce the amount of RAM your device has!

Completely unnecessary. Let the OS do its work.

Quite often i find i have to exit out of an app and push the task kill button as it lags and this is always when there is sub 100mb free ram

im kind of after an automated way to do this

not really asking to reduce the amount of ram available, more always have 100mb available

But by having something keep 100mb free at all times then you're just reducing the RAM avalible by that amount.

but by being free it would stop the phone lagging, the OS does it already but i want to raise the limit i guess

I would've thought with 1gb RAM it should be fine. Are you on the latest firmware? What apps do you usually have running in the settings -> apps -> running? You might have too many background apps that closes when you run an app, and then rushes to get back into the RAM when you exit it.
