Android auto-app updates

Been a while since I used android.

I can turn off auto-updates, as I don't want blanked updates across the system or even notifications.

What I do want to select a handful of apps that do want to auto-update. How is that done in the latest play store? It used to be simple in the days of yore.

I see that I'm talking about only having certain apps auto-update not doing a manual update on certain apps. I don't see an option for that on the new play store.

Looks like that will work if I'm prepared to go the play store then search through every single app on the phone and disable auto update. Shame Google have made such a mess of it.
