Android backspace replacing deleted text

Hey

In any text editor my Sony z3 will replace text as I delete it.

If I delete test I get testtest.

Any ideas, factory reset no love, latest software and had the same thing on my Samsung note 3.

Any idea what keyboard you're using? Is it the default stock keyboard?

I get this intermittently, it seems to happen when I'm typing fast and may be a two keys being touched fast accidentally.

Yeah it's the stock keyboard.

Try a different keyboard such as Google keyboard: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin&hl=en_GB

It's a light keyboard so should be less prone to mistakes caused by software lag.

I occasionally get what I think is the same problem, it almost seems like its trying to predict words as I delete, so re-adds words.

I always used to get it with Swiftkey even if I wasn't using it as the default keyboard. uninstalled it and the problem went away. now just stick to google keyboard and never looked back

Yeah I've had no issues with Googles keyboard.

Although I never had Swiftkey installed.

Odd, not sure why I occasionally get it then. I only ever use the google keyboard and have never installed anything else.

Google keyboard does not come as stock on most any android phones other than nexus I believe
