Android backup

Looking at moving from Apple to Android.

Question is what's the best way to backup and restore handsets based on android as Apple backup/ restore is good.

Current handset iPhone 6 plus

Looking at getting Samsung Note 5

If you allow it Google will backup everything on your phone for you, with the exception of call history and SMS messages.

Put all your contacts in Google, your photos automatically backed up to Google Photos, all documents in Google Drive, and it automatically records your installed apps. And then you can also perform (and schedule I think) a full device backup too.

Pretty much exactly how I have my phone set up. I use this to backup my SMS whenever I change phones (or am about to try installing a firmware I'm not sure will work fully!):

and have it set to backup to my Dropbox as well as the internal phone memory card. Been using it for years and it's brilliant & free. The same dude does a phone call log backup tool too that I've used before, but I'm more bothered about losing SMS than I am call logs:
