Hi all,

I have a Trongle S3 android which is pretty good - Amlogic S905X CPU and 2GB RAM.

I'm looking for something a bit meatier though to run games (*cough* MAME). I really don't want to build a HTPC.

What's the best spec I can get under £100?

Advice appreciated!

If you can push a few more $$$ then the NVidia Shield TV is likely the best Android box available.

I am using a HP 600 G1 DM USFF, installed 8GB RAM and a 128GB SSD and it's perfect! It's connected to the TV in the living and streams everything from my PC upstairs, I got via work for £200 :)

Hrm, well I ended up giving my current box a go and strangely enough it runs all my retro stuff fine (apart from the really heavy stuff) and is pretty snappy. That was unexpected. USB hub and 4 x Xbox 360 pads and it's great for a lad's retro night in with beers :)

Might look at the Shield for an upgrade though if there's a good deal on them. Cheers :)

I was going to do this on an old Android box.
Decided to hold off and get a Pi 3 so I can use Bluetooth for PS3 pads or my USB SNES pads.

Have a look at the retroengine sigma on indiegogo.com. I am thinking of getting one myself but it is not due for release until April 2017. For the price i might just give it a try.
