Google's dropped new code for Android Donut and it sounds too good to be true. People at XDA Developers are reporting it has system-wide multitouch, universal search, text-to-speech, automated backups, a new camera app, and somehow, supposedly better performance.

Also intriguing is CDMA support--as in the kind of network that Sprint runs--adding on to Sprint's Dan Hesse remark that Android is coming to Sprint this year and rumors that it'll be Hero. You can see a lot of the new Donut features in action here, like universal search, in this video from the Google I/O conference.

Folks at XDA are working on a build that'll run on the Dream (G1), though it works in the emulator right now. [XDA Developers, Images via XDA's cyanogen, Thanks Will!]

Cliffs:
multitouch
gestures
cdma
search integrated into everything
wpa enterprise
vpn support
automated backups
tons of performance tweaking

I assume the hero will be able to update to this yea?

My understanding is you would have to wait until HTC update their build to Donut so I would presume yes but just later on.

Although saying that by the time Donut is released there will be plenty of guides on the internet on how to manually install custom or alternative builds such a Donut so if you don't mind getting your fingers dirty I wouldn't be concerned.

I bet phone operators are not happy though, having to re-advertise the same current handsets 3 times over the next few months with new specs and sensational wording hehe :p

Yes flash is coming to all android platforms as soon as adobe releases it.
