Is there any apps for kids that stops popups and advertisements?

Just picked up my daughters nexus 7 and it is almost unusable with all the programs running in the background and advertisements pooping up and opening several internet pages at once?

I know kids will click yes and install a lot of things when they don't mean to but is there anyway to reduce this?

A couple of points.

1: Yes there is but you'll need to root and you'll need to get the app to do this from elsewhere. Not a big deal to some but it can be a hassle and carries some risk.

2: My daughter has had a tablet for the last 2 years (she is now 6) I've not had a single because I don't allow the play store to remember my password and I also turn the Wifi off (airplane mode) so its not connected whenever she is on it.

Turning off the network connection seems to stop quite a few intrusive ads tbh but if there is a paid version of a game that she likes 99.9% of the time I'll buy it for her.

What?

Straight out of the box that's happening? Sounds like user error to me. If you're using Chrome and getting pop ups I'd question the sites you're going on in the first place. And unless your daughter has a credit card or your login details for the Play Store she can't do any real damage anyway.

no this is after general use and installing free games :/

Yes it is user error. Just not sure how to set it up to block half this stuff but yet give her the freedom of installing games

Get a child friendly launcher (Kid Mode by Zoodles is good) and then restrict what she can install and open. Free games will generally be quite spammy as they have to make a living somehow.

for those with young kids... check out the galaxy tab 3 "kids".

Other than that.. i can't advise on blockers soz.

I'm guessing these popups are in the notification tray?

You could go into each app settings and restrict notifications?

This, when something appears in the notification shade, long press it and select 'app info' then untick the notifications box. You won't hear from it again.

is it possible on a tablet. never knew to be honest.

Android 4.3 gave use fairly decent parental controls.

Settings > users > add new user > restricted profile > choose what apps/services your kids have access too.

I wish we had better browser/ad filters while ISPs sort out top level controls but you can turn off the browser and play store for young children. :)
