Android GO opinions

Curious as could do with a new phone, am on Lollipop still. Merely updating for security. Is GO just a gimmic to make underpowered phones, work? Or does it actually work?

I just use Google Maps, which can be a bit of a hardware hog sometimes. Otherwise my old phone is still solid.

I bought an old Samsung Galaxy s5 Mini running Marshmallow to use with Android Auto. I had a few niggles with it so bought a new Motorola Moto G8 Power instead.

I have noticed google maps is slicker and getting and installing updates is a lot quicker even though the Moto only supports 2.4Ghz WiFi when the old S5 Mini supported 5Ghz WiFi.

Battery life is a lot better too.
