Android Google Email question

I have one of my old Gmail accounts linked to my Android Marketplace. The old account has all of my purchases on from the marketplace so I don't want to remove the account entirely, however I want to stop my phone from telling me when a new email has come through and I want to setup a different Gmail account instead.

Is this possible?

In the GMail app add your new account. To stop your old account syncing go to settings - Account and Sync and stop your old account from syncing.
