Some help would be appreciated as I can't seem to make this work.

Short version, I like my phone to be on silent mode so that I am not constantly distrubed by audible notifications.

However, I frequently miss calls.

I can't seem to find a way to enable calls to be loud, but everything else to be silent. Seems like this should/would be an option??

Would do not disturb with exceptions for all contacts work? Not sure if you could then set it to only calls?

Yes I found this too. On older Android you can't turn the notification sound off separately. There are apps you can download that allow you to configure this. I tried one but I can't remember the name of it. It was a little flaky and I don't use it now. Might be worth a try though.

Are people really not seeing theirs on their android phones? I'm looking at my volume options right now on my Pixel 8 and it's right there:

Do not disturb as mentioned. You can allow contacts, or allow all calls if you don't know who might be ringing. I have mine set to none and just specific contacts for example. This can include messages if you want.

But why would one do this when you can just mute everything else but calls without having to use DnD?

Just another way to do it. You can do as you've shown. :) DnD I would find easier to enable disable via the icon in the pull down, rather than fiddling with the sliders. Apart from that...
