Hi,

Is there any sort of app that can light up the screen when the phone is locked, and show notifications when they come in such as text messages, emails, whatsapp etc and a little preview of the message... Then turn the screen off again

I have tried Knock2+ but it wouldn't work properly and made the phone speak when loading web pages etc

Anyone able to suggest anything?

I haven't rooted / modded anything and don't really want to. I have a Samsung galaxy s4 by the way

Thanks in advance

Asked this just thsi morn on here, to me seems like Dashclock is the one to go for if you have 4.2 if not then its Widgetlocker

Dashclock is just a widget, if you want to use it as part of the lockscreen then the lockscreen needs to allow widgets. WidgetLocker will allow this if your stock one doesn't.

So if I'm right... Dashclock is a widget, and so is Nils?

But the only thing that annoys me is with the standard lock screen on the S4 you can't have a pin code and widgets... Is this possible with widget locker?

Just checking as I don't want to pay for it (I know I can get a refund but still) and then it doesn't do what I want it to

For the other functions though, Nils seems to do what I want it to... Just need a lockscreen that allows widgets and pin code (or some Form of security)

If someone could confirm that would be great :)

Thanks!

NiLS is also just a widget like Dashclock, so you will need a lockscreen that allows widgets. Both widgets can do what you're after... apart from Whatsapp, as Whatsapp does not have an API to allow other apps to connect to it.

WidgetLocker will allow this, it has the name Widget in it for a reason :p. However, as for PIN security, it still relies on the stock one, so you will need to ensure the Samsung PIN lock is on.

So basically, install WidgetLocker to replace the stock Samsung lockscreen. Then under the WidgetLocker edit mode, place on Dashclock/NiLS where you want it and then you're done.

Cool

I've actually just got Nils and it does work with whatsapp... Just tested it out by removing the pin on my Samsung lock screen

What I mean though is that with widget locker, will I be able to have the Nils widget and the Samsung locking pin on the same 'screen' or will I need to scroll left and right to see Nils?

I might get widget locker later and test it
