I've just got myself a Samsung S4 mini and trying to set up my blueyonder email account to the default email client.

Can anyone think of a reason why when I open an email it's deleted from the client?

The message isn't deleted from the server which is good, as I use outlook on my main PC to handle that. Oddly, if I delete the account and setup again, it only pulls down 4 particular message from last Wednesday and not any since (read or unread).

I've tried a different email app client and same happens.

I'm reluctant to change any settings on the server as I know that works ok. It also works fine on my outgoing HTC phone.

Basically I want the message downloaded but only to be deleted when I delete them from the client, not when they are read.

thanks

Annoyingly I had this issue with Hotmail whilst on holiday where it refused to sync with a folder I needed and just thought it was empty.
Had to use the web client in the end...

No idea whats causing it.

Try K-9Mail or K@-mail from the market, much better than the stock app and all the options you could want

Are you using IMAP or pop settings?
Im not even sure i have ever seen a "delete on read" setting, sounds unusual.

Do you have multiple mail boxes of folders setup and its only pulling messages from one of them?

POP.

There's sin't I've looked and search and there's no setting i can find that looks anything like a "delete on read". ??

I'll give k9 a go. Cheers

Are you downloading the emails directly from the blueyonder mail servers or via something else? I'm a bit confused as you say you don't want to change any settings on the server.

Sorry for the late reply but this is doing my head in..

No i am pulling the emails direct from the blueyonder server.

I don't want to change any thing on the server because 1.

1. Outlook client on my home PC works fine
2. This used to work fine under my old HTC desire.

Each time I open a message it disappears from the andoid app client. The message remains on the server though.

I've tried about 4 different apps. Al doing the same ????

edit.. i think I've just sorted it.

My original thought was that the client appended items to the list but now I believe the email clients must clear the email list each time when refreshing the data and pulls a fresh list down from the server each time. Because the android client has already read that message it doesn't bother again.

My home outlook client works because i have the recent command added to the account name (i.e. recent:[email protected]). This pulls messages down from the pop server over the last 30 days regardless of what client has previously read the message. .

I've just added the same command to my andrioid app client and it works.
