Android market apps.. how are they linked to you?

So.. how are the apps that I have purchased linked to me?

Is it based on my user email (i.e. gmail account), my phone number, the phone itself (I note I can also put the apps on my wife's transformer..)?

If I swap phones, and then my phone contract runs out.. will I lose the apps etc?

Hopefully it's done against the account.. but please.. educate me on this :-D

I'm near 99% sure that it is linked with your Google account. So you'll be able to use it on future Android devices, etc down the years. I bet someone can make that 100%...

+1 for linked to Google account... I've had 6+ Android phones and all my apps associate with my google account. But it's annoying that you can't migrate apps to another account.
