Wow there's a lot of choice with these...

I'm after something I can take with me away so I can bring a load of ripped DVDs with me. So it needs to be able to play films ripped in VIDEO_TS folder format smoothly, plus 1080p MKVs. XBMC would be ideal but I don't know if its there yet for android (it certainly wasn't last time I checked)? Easily added storage and a simple way to control it would be ideal too. Oh and needs to be super cheap too.

I like the look of the APC Paper. Could quite easily sit among the pile of books currently next to my tv!

Having said that, with the Android market changing so quickly, the Ouya might well be a better candidate for getting good ongoing support.

that liliputing site is very good. Its would seem there's about four of quad core ones out now...

The only thing holding me back one these is the reliability, its seems to be a bit of an unknown quantity. My Atom PC has been trundling along for years taking quite a hammering with Netflix and XBMC, and its still going strong.

Edit: This looks interesting, Huawei are a decent make...

Edit: Think I'll wait for Ouya and Huawei. In the meantime I've bought a Slimport cable for my Nexus 4, would seem I can just use my quad core phone just like one of these tv sticks lol

Yep I also have a Samsung Galaxy 3 and have the usb to HDMI adapter works great, also I am keeping an eye on this device ODROID-X2 which has Exynos4412 Prime 1.7GHz ARM Cortex-A9 Quad Core with 2GB memory and 3D Accelerator Mali-400 Quad Core 440MHz starting to ship April, I am going to get one off those and use it as xbmc etc with a 12 volt to 5volt adaptor for power leaving it switched on 24/7.

Give us a little review once you've played with it.

It seems good, plays HD Netflix fine. Not had a chance to stream from my media PC using XBMC yet tho, for some reason it couldnt access it.

What I have found good is the fact everything ive plugged in to the usb ports has worked, plugged a USB hub and my old keyboard and mouse in for the initial setup. Tho for some reason the mouse does spaz oit and have to be unplugged and plugged back in.

Loaded up a SNES emulator and was playing on it with a USB SNES controller from ebay, great stuff.

Cant really comment on the WiFi as my router is only the opposite side of the room to it, 7ft if that.

It does have a strange quirk on Candy Crush Saga, the game runs faster then it should. Also it is extremely bright in colours (in this game especially), and as far as I can tell there no brightness option in the settings.

One word of warning tho, Rikomagic just announced the MK802 IV! Which will have a quadcore A9 and 2gb of DDR3, no doubt the IIIS price will now have dropped, tut.

Good God - HELP !

I'm looking to upgrade my single core to something with a bit more ooooompfh personally I don't think the mk808 represents good value for money at the moment especially with quad cores out or on the horizon.

The alternative is a single core with a lot of RAM (any suggestions?)

It would be for XBMC and Ubunti for web browsing etc, being switched on all the time the conversion to UK pounds works out at 89 Pounds, thats not including the postage.

Fair enough.... Just seen the videos of it playing and read this thread

Personally I would continue avoiding these devices for XBMC until full hardware acceleration is supported. My mini-itx system (in sig) is still far more powerful than these devices.
