Hi all,

Old man has reached 65, and wants to get a tablet..

Which in your honest opinion is best for a pensioner? I mean in terms of use, usability, etc

Apple or Android :)

Cheers

Tricky one, apple OS is supposedly easy to use but i know my parents struggle with it. Thing with android is you can customise it pretty much anyway you want, so with abit of fiddling (guessing on your part) it could be easier for him to use.

Oh and Android ;)

My grandparents are both 69 and both have iphones, ipads and macbooks and use them like second nature. Doubt theyd have any trouble with an android one either but it is certainly less "limiting" in terms of settings and configurability. My other grandparents of similar age cant turn their tv on.

Is there any way you can get him to try both out in a shop? See what he feels most comfortable using..

I think iOS is the easier system for elderly people. Android is very powerful and offer a lot of flexibility in term of settings/features, but this sometimes bring the complexity.

I have android devices but I would always recommend ipads for older people as there is less things that they can mess up.

iOS is easier to get to grips with for the older less tech savvy generation.

I speak from experience as both my parents and grandmother have iPhones and iPads which they get on well with. ;)

Android, because it works with whatever you got. You don't need to learn the Apple/iTunes way of doing things.

My old man's lost using iOS but happy as some chap named Larry on Android.

Save some money, go Android and just stick the most basic of launchers on it. :).

I find this. They seem to find iOS quite easy to get around. Never shut any of the apps though! :p
