I found out recently that a lot of Android Smartphones don't support something, as simple as setting Static IP on an Ethernet connection...:o

One of my mates who has an older Samsung budget phone is able to configure the Ethernet connection, so I know its possible on 'some' devices.

My questions is; What phone do you've and do you get Ethernet options to e.g. set a static ip?

BTW I would add a poll, but can't see to see the option for it...

Then the same question goes why do you want a static IP on a mobile device. You running servers from your phone?
Nope, I want to connect my phone via Enet to my car. I can't do that, unless I configure eth0 with the correct static IP.

iPhone's can do it, Samsung android devices can do it too... So why can't a phone meant for 'developers' not do something so simple? :p

These phones have never been for developers for a long while, it caters more to the normal person that never bothers with USB ethernet.

Alternative option: Portable travel router?

does it need to be fixed or deliver dhcp via eth, my s10 can certainly do that, I use it as 5g backup internet for my network at home, I 'll check later if it can be fixed.

Your S10 will have Ethernet option under more connections in settings, out of 5 samsung phones I tested only 1 older budget model didn't have this in the settings.
