Hi Everyone,
I'm new here, so please forgive the silly questions. My Apple iPhone 6S is coming to the end of it's life, the battery on standby lasts about 6 hrs, it probably won't get too many more upgrades, I'm currently on IOS 15.2, I didn't think mine would run 15, but it does, so it might make it to IOS 16 next year if I'm lucky, I can get the battery replaced for £20, that's cheap, but if it's not going to be supported for long is it worth it?
Do I get a cheap Android? I've just seen:-

£59
2gb ram doesn't seem a lot and no idea about the CPU - Unisoc T606 1.6GHz. It comes with Android 11 installed, does it matter about the Android version? The latest is Android 12, I always thought that you needed the latest version for your phone to be secure, I do like to do banking on my phone, I don't do games, email, YouTube, bank Satnav, messages, emails. Can the Android version be updates? Can you add more 'System RAM'?

Many Thanks

These days luckily the security patches are separate from the OS version, but it depends on the manufacturer to release the security patch for that model. Unfortunately Motorola aren't really on top of security updates ever since they were sold off to Lenovo.

RAM is not upgradable either, and 2GB is just too small these days if you want a decent experience.

If you want a decent phone to last a while with good security updates, could you step up to the Pixel 4a or is that too expensive?

Thanks for the help. Yes the Pixel 4a is a bit out of my pocket. Ideally I'd like to spend £100 or less. O2 are selling the E30 for £79, and obviously being a Motorola will have the same security patch issue, but the spec looks the same. My neighbour has a spare Android, not sure make and model, I might borrow that and see how I get on, he says it's not that old, but then why did he buy a new one? :D

I have one. (Realme 6) Owned since August last year. I get bi-monthly security updates (No idea when these will end) & an upgrade from 10 to 11 as few months back. Cameras OK, but I paid double for mine even though I bought the 128GB version. Storage can be expanded with a micro SD Card. Smaller battery but lasts all day. less powerful charger but if you charge overnight its not much of an issue. It may come with a 2pin charger as mine did but I bought mine from the auction site rather than Amazon.

Thanks both, shame about the battery on the realme, mind you the 6 has a 4300 mAh battery, where as the 8 is 5000, so a bit better. I like the bi-monthly updates
I’ll take a look at the Redmi Note, might find some New Years bargains.
I was just looking at the spec on my 6s:-

2mb RAM, Li-Ion 1715 mAh, non-removable (6.91 Wh) That's terrible, when it was new it would last around 2 - 3 days. According to the spec above, it should get 15.2, but that's about it
