Android phones cause Internet to crash

I'm guessing this is due to the limited 2.4Ghz frequency of my router.

Can I rectify this problem by buying a dual band router?

I have a Galaxy Ace and wife has a Galaxy Mini.

Would it then simply be a case of turning 5Ghz on in the device settings?

Have you tried updating the firmware of the router? Also what exactly happens when you connect the phones?

I don't think your phones will support 5ghz, they are usually b/g and sometimes N lite.
Dual band might improve your other devices if they are able to take advantage of 5ghz.

When you connect them does the entire wireless network drop out? Or does the router completely
Lock up?

Change your wireless security to disabled and try connecting like that for a few minutes.
