android predictive writing

Wasn't sure where to put this, probably more experience in here for android.
got a New cheap tablet running 2.1 and it only seems to have odd words like diablo and hotmail saved and litteraly no normal english words. English uk is set in keyboard settings and in location settings. Anyone have any ideas.

Try a new keyboard from the market, swiftkey etc or could you root and grab the good HTC one?

Yup another vote for swiftkey, it's slower to begin with until you figure it out i like it.
