Hey guys,

I'm after a 10" android tab. It will be used almost exclusively for watching video (it doesn't need to run the latest android games etc). Videos will be streamed from plex, netflix/amazon and run directly off of the device. It also needs to be capable of HDMI out in some way shape or form.

I can pick up a refurbished Galaxy tab 3 for £130 off of a reputable ebay store with a years warranty but the tab 3's don't have the most favorable reviews.

Is there anything else I should be looking at?

Thanks a lot.

You could always grab a Chromecast and mirror the screen wirelessly, as long as you have a good wireless network there is almost no lag and good quality when using this.

I have considered this but it is for usage in hotels mostly and I can't guarantee a stable wifi connection.

If that's the case then I would get a Miracast dongle instead, this is a bit like Chromecast but it uses Wifi direct so your tablet connects to the dongle directly. But I have no idea what is a decent model.

My own experiences with Miracast have been awful, across many many different devices from dongles to Bluray players to set top boxes. It's a shame because I'd love to use it more for demos at work but it's just not reliable enough.

I looked at that and it does indeed look very good but there is no facility for HDMI out (it's not MHL compatible) which is a massive shame.

Ah so it doesn't sorry. Surprising that latest tech these days doesn't support MHL even at this price range.
