Looking for a new tablet (from "Santa") for our youngest - currently he's using an old Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 from 2016 or something ridiculous, but it has only 16GB storage and 3GB of RAM plus whatever ancient CPU, so it's slow and frustrating for him to use, and we have to keep uninstalling things depending on what he is using it for!

I figure this week is a good time to pick one up over Black Friday.

I've had a bad experience with Samsung customer "support" in the past, so they are absolutely not an option.

Requirements:

~10"
Relatively robust (although we will be getting a chunky case for it anyway)
Good availability of cases, so no unknown Chinese knock-off brand (see above)
Stock Android (as far as possible) - I was originally looking at the Fire HD Kids, but from what I've read they are actually quite restricted, with no Google Play store, meaning no Youtube etc.?
~£200 max

So far, Lenovo seem to be the top option(s):
  • M10 plus 3rd Gen (6GB RAM / 128GB Storage) - £150
  • Tab Plus (6GB RAM / 128GB Storage)- £200
Anyone got either of those and can give some feedback?
Other options we should be looking at?

Edit: Honor Pad 9 for £200 maybe?
Or Redmi Pad Pro for £230

Thanks - it does look like a better option than the Lenovo, I'm seeing a lot of good things about the Redmi Pad Pro as well.

£186 for the Honor Pad 9 (from Amazon, or £200 direct from Honor including the stylus)
£230 for the Redmi Pad Pro

Both 8GB / 256 GB

The Redmi Pad has a faster CPU, bigger battery, better screen with Gorilla Glass (which is probably handy for kids!), and can take a MicroSD card.
Honor Pad has the better camera (although neither are amazing by the look of it).

Happy to recommend the Doogee T30 Pro (Android 14 version) - I picked mine up for under £120 last Prime Day and had to return the case & screen protector I also bought (as it came with both out of the box).

Really impressed with the performance - 2560x1600 60hz screen, 8gb ram (15Gb virtual, which it pinches from the 256Gb onboard storage). Chucked a 1Tb SDXC card in and an unlimited data SIM (4G/LTE, £10/m with Three).

Plays all the streaming services at full HD (Widevine L1), streaming games from my PC (using Sunshine/Moonlight @1440p, 60hz), PS5 & Xbox remote play is flawless.

For the money, I struggled to justify paying more than 4x for an equivalent Samsung.
