Android tv box + vpn

I've just installed xbmc on my Android box and I'm using a vpn I'm also streaming my movies from a nas, the problem is when connected to the vpn I can't access any files on my network, any idea what I need to do to use the vpn and still stream locally?

You can use MyEnTunnel to establish an SSH tunnel to your VPN. Then you can configure the SOCKS proxy in each particular application you want to route through the VPN. Many applications support SOCKS configuration.

Sorry when I say vpn I mean an account with a vpn provider, I'm using Earthvpn. Using windows 8.1 works fine, I connect to the vpn in Netherlands and can still access all my local nas files, but on the android box as soon as I connect to the vpn I can't see my local nas files.
