hey

im after a android TV box so i can stream films from my PC and use the on demand app etc

just had a quick look around and there seems to be hundreds of them and i have no idea what im looking for.

budget £40-60. thanks for any help/advice

Cheers guys

had a quick look at reviews and they look good. Little over what I wanted to spend tho. may just have to stump up that little extra for one.

^^ wireless keyboard is a must for me. Takes me ages on a remote :-/

I'm not in a rush to buy so I might as well hold out for them to go on deal again :-)

been looking into it a little more and i like that you can also play games on them.

so i have 2 problems with it.

1 ive spent a few quid on android games and apps (no big deal really) so i cant use my android games and apps on it.
2 there's only one USB port, i was going to use the wireless keyboard i already have and plug in a USB memory card at the same time.

Will a Bluetooth keyboard be OK from one end of the room to the other?

Amazon Fire TV is just there own take on the Android tv box.
it uses the same hardware and there OS is based on Android 4.2 jelly bean.
Amazon would just like you to believe its better tech etc, but it really isn't and uses the older Quad Core GPU and 1.7gig CPU
my latest Android box has an 8 core GPU and 2gig Quad Core CPU running 4.4 kitkat, bluetooth

so why pay more for a box full of older tech
if your going to be adding Kodi anyway

what box do you have?

its an OTT android box, says M8 on the top. cost me £50
the full type is M8N S802-H
its full HD, plus 4k if you have 4k tv
2gb quad cpu
8 core 450 gpu
2gb ddr3 ram
8gb storage, plus x2 usb 2/SD card slot
kitkat 4.4
2.4/5gb wifi
Bluetooth 4.0
SPDIF audio out
running Kodi 14.2

my Bluetooth keyboard says range 10m
heres mine, works great and the keys light up

looks good spec. not gotten round to buying one yet but that could be a winner. thanks

the CS918 looks decent to. but i dont have a clue which cpu/gpu is better?

looks very interesting
the spec looks good.
price wise not so good at £100(Android) £119 (windows 8.1)
I like the bit about "Ultra Fast Boot Time of 10-15sec"
I timed my box and from hitting the on button to being in Kodi took 10sec
so it not going to be any faster in that department.
will be interesting to read a review from someone here that has one, so buy one lol

I've been looking around and you can pic the up from the US for £88 delivered. Or on the bay from China with a keyboard for £98 delivered.

I've looked at a few reviews and it's either the neo x8 or the neo z64a that are top dog at the moment as far as I can tell.

I also saw on the xda that you can put windows on the Android version saving you a few quid if you wanted to go down that route

Well I got my minix z64z today.

Very impressed so far. Very smooth and plays all games I've played so far. Films have no trouble at 1080p either.

One thing I would say is but a wireless mouse. The air mouse isn't that good to be honest. It's like pointing on small buttons on the wii/wii u. The keyboard on the air mouse is fine for what I need it for so using both that and a new keyboard I think it will be a winner

Just need to sort kodi out but I've no idea what I'm doing with that ha

I have a Minix Neo X8-H Plus. It works great but was a fair bit more expensive than most but I wanted something that used Kodi as well as Snes/Megadrive/Arcade Emulators etc.

Same reason I got the z64a. You can play games on it as well.

If you want to just watch films you can get something for half the price. Was well worth the extra £40 imo
