Android Youtube woes

So I'm getting a bit sick of this now so thought I'd ask here.

I have a Google Pixel C and whenever I view a YT video I get no quality options, so it defaults to some low res crap that is really annoying. Doesn't matter if I choose to view it in the desktop mode via chrome or whether it's direct from the YT app, I can't view vids in high quality.

Any ideas how to fix this as it's doing my head in now.

Ta.

As above, pressing the 3 dot menu button on the top right gives me this:

Is that both on phones? I don't get any dots in the top right.

I get three dots on the video where it says 'Add to - Share - More' but when I press the three dots next to more the only options I get are report, transcript, statistics, add translations.

Just tried on Note 4, as said when the video is playing top right 3 dots gives quality options.

What version of Youtube are you running?
