Anyone else read his novels ?

I bought Remote Control on a whim and couldn't put it down.

I read Bravo Two Zero some years back but this is the first of his novels that I have read.

Thoughts ?

My housemates a massive fan of his nick stone books and keeps trying to get me to read them.

Pretty sure a thread was just made on this.

You mean the Bravo Two Zero thread that has dropped onto the second page?

I've read Bravo Two Zero but can't recall having read any of his other books, from what I remember it was entertaining enough and decently written but after all the furore surrounding it I felt almost as if I had to treat it as a work of partial fiction rather than a real account as I was hoping.

The first few of his novels are very good, the quality drops a little after the first 2 or 3 and I think drops again, this time by quite a margin some where in the series, maybe after Dark Winter or the following book.

The last two have certainly been an improvement but not to the standard of the first two or so.

Immediate Action is worth reading as well. It's an non fiction work about his army life as a whole.

I've been meaning to order Seven Troop(his most recent non fiction work) from the library but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I did enjoy Immediate Action, and as said, some Nick Stone books are better than others, but still good as a whole.

I do like him and Chris Ryan. I do like that genre!

I found Duncan Falconer's books to be better, same kind of thing (ex SBS operative turned novelist). He wrote a couple of real life accounts then turned to fiction like Mcnab and Ryan but they just seem to be more well written imo.

Ah I wondered if somebody was going to quote my thread.

As mentioned in that thread I've just finished bravo two zero and loved it, I think I might be getting some more of his books for christmas!

Indeed. Incidently, First into Action (non-fic) is one of the best books I've ever read.
