We're just laying the groundwork for them if the death penalty is brought back. It's barbaric and not fit for any sort of modern society.
Agreed.

About ****ing time this scumbag terrorist was locked up! Diego Garcia is British, so here's hoping that he can serve his sentence out there, at that prison that doesn't exist.
Statements along the lines of "what most of the population want, such as the death penalty" really do need some kind of source. Utterly ridiculous.
Actually Gaucus, it isn't. People like Choudary are hated by most normal members of society in much the same way as him and his like hate us. The only difference in that hatred is that we hate them for what they do, they hate us because we are what we are. We as a society can't change what we are, but we can certainly change what we do with and to people of the like's of Choudary. Politicians that don't listen and take on board what most of the population want and have wanted for a long time (the restoration of the death penalty), ultimately are in for a big kicking. You only have to look at the total shock and turmoil within "the great and the good" from the Brexit result to realize that. I know it's not going to change this low life piece of crap's sentence at the moment.............................but it may well do in the not too distance future.
Support for the death penalty in Britain has dropped below 50% for the first time on record, an annual opinion survey says.
"It can now be reported"
Yup that's probably because he's made some sort of deal where his 5 kids and entire family are set for life courtesy of the taxpayer.
And I'm guessing it will keep follo...y going to be as conspicuous and vocal then ?
It's probably because information sourced at AC was being used for other prosecutions or investigations.
It may very well do. It may also only take something as big as 9/11 to completely turn that on it's head. Our security peeps have taken years and years to get this scum bag to court. As will have been said loads of times on here, our guys have to stop them every time, they only need to get through once. Because of the likes of Choudary.................they absolutely will get through that once at some point.
When there are a couple of thousand people dead on the streets of London, Liverpool, Manchester or Birmingham.................................are the supporters of the death penalty going to be as conspicuous and vocal then ?
If you're that interested perhaps start a thread on it? After all this isn't what this thread is about. There has been a thread with a poll, though it was about 4 years ago now.Add a poll then?
death penalty yes or No.
I guess the only downside to that is the "The pair face up to 10 years in jail after their Old Bailey trial." Upto 10 years can be anything in British sentencing.
As long as its done properly and he isn't able to carry on preaching then it's better than having him out in public radicalising people, isn't it?
I'm not sure why we're discussing a possible death sentence. You generally don't kill people who practice hate speech, you censure them and if they fail to comply, a jail sentence. As what has happened here.
While I don't advocate the death penalty in a civilised society, I wouldn't be too upset if he was beaten to death in prison.
