Searching for Anna in titles came up with nothing so decided to post this. Seems like a nice little horror game:

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/07/16/house-of-horrors-anna-released/#more-116318

Came out yesterday I believe:

Anna is a short adventure game set in and around an old sawmill near
Champoluc and Periasc, a real-world environment we've faithfully
recreated. The game features six, highly detailed locations to explore
in which your alter ego should navigate a wide range of situations
ranging from solving puzzles to facing the eerie presences that haunt
the surroundings

Depending on the mental status of your character (which is determined
by your actions), you're tasked with navigating your way through
ever-changing places along with their well hidden clues, eventually
leading you to one of three possible endings

At a budget price tag, the game itself has been designed as an
interactive three-hour singleplayer horror experience

The OST was performed by the budding "Chantry" gothic band, now on
their 2nd album "Crystal"

The game is a PC exclusive, featuring state-of-the-art models and
shaders that take advantage of the latest technologies available to us
through the power of new developments in graphics hardware

Features:

* A dramatic story with three endings based
on the main character's mental sanity
* Real time 3D graphic with physically based rendering, tone
mapping, real time ambient occlusion and bloom effects
* A beautiful soundtrack with some original music
pieces and hundreds of sound effects
* An original setting in a charmining place:
"D'Ayas Valley" in Valle d'Aosta, Italy

good preview on eurogamer last night for this. Looks pants but I do like Amnesia so I'll try it. Only problem is I can't play Amnesia when you get to the section with sharks or whatnot in the water without evacuating my bowels.

these games just freak me out....im a wimp with stuff like this, my mind is far to active and when I game I put myself deep inside a game..... I have Amnesia (the game) but im not sure I will even play it so this looks like an avoid for me :P

What's it like Voorhees? seems pretty good from watching the vid, i am a big fan of horror games and this seems really ideal as i liked Amnesia. It run well too?

OP has not returned, worrying! :p think I'll get this too, just been watching a few videos on youtube of it and it does look a little un-nerving..

When I saw the thread title I was entirely on the wrong track.
I thought it was a typo and another thread about the DRM of Anno 2070 :D

Anyone else started this yet? Playing in the dark with headphones turned up it is pretty terrifying, wish I recorded my face whilst playing it as one bit almost gave me a heart attack. It got the better of me and had to turn it off in the end, I'll continue later once it gets dark! It's a completely different kind of atmosphere to Amnesia, but if you like that you'll probably enjoy this. I'll admit though, the clues arent great I was completely stumped with one of the riddles so I had to look that bit up.

I have an old machine and it runs really well with everything on high, not sure why it shows such terrible FPS in the video it must be footage of an early version.

Though I would post my impressions in here as well as the "now playing" thread.

My thoughts: Disappointing, not scary, badly designed and actually boring.

Start to finish was less than 2 hours for me, I'm told there are multiple endings (apparently I got the longest one) but I have no intention of experiencing the other 2.

It's nothing more than a bunch of shoddy horror elements shoe horned into a badly designed adventure game, the latter not helped by appalling controls and a tiny number of intractable objects (if you can do something with it, it's important). The former may be just me but honestly, there are so few actual scares in it that I stopped caring REALLY fast, most of the scares rely on you being unnerved by things that are really badly modelled or make me think of the game design team sitting down and saying "Right, let's make a list of completely random things we can do in an attempt to scare people". No joke, one of those things involves random stretchy arms sticking out of the floor, less scary and more Gary's Mod.

I think the main issue is there is no threat, you can't die and you can't fail, the reason Amnesia's monsters were so nail bitingly terrifying was because you knew that given the chance they would happily rip your limbs off.

Unfortunately the adventure game side simply comes down to using everything on everything else until you figure out where something should go, most of the results being utterly illogical.

Over all, really rather bad.

Thanks for the impressions, Fenris. Yeah, the RPS guys weren't happy with it either. What a shame, it looked really promising during the buildup to release.
