UbiSoft has announced a new expansion for their futuristic trade sim Anno 2070, Deep Ocean. The expansion will be released this upcoming Fall 2012.

The expansion will include a new civ level called the Tech faction, which is expanded by the Genius population class. The new Genius class adds the Tech Monument, new corresponding production chains and consumption goods. The class also adds new vehicles and items, unlocking new resources.

Deep Ocean will also allow players to acquire enemy territories without using military force using the new Hostile Takeover feature. The new underwater geothermal power plant will provide a new source of energy, while islands will be able to supply each other with an energy transfer, along with other underwater trade routes.

Of course, the sea-focused expansion will also include a new disaster in the form of a devastating giant tsunami.

The game will add over 150 new challenging quests, unlock over 30 new achievements, and add a new leaderboard feature.

I feel like I should be more excited than I am. I love the Anno games but something about 2070 just didn't click as well as 1404.

As the above poster said, I feel like this should have been in the main game and as it stands isn't really cool enough to justify an expansion.

i dont see what the problem is. they have a game with underwater elements, now they release an expansion more focusd on the element, whats wrong with that?

people probibly thaught it was a great part of the game so ubisoft are giving them more of it.

were u expecting this for free in a patch?

Ubisoft or not Ubisoft, I couldn't care when Anno is hands down the best single player strategy series still around today.
