hi, I'm havin issues ATM were by I can't seem to install any type of os. It appears to hang on the scrolling bar on vista, if I try xp it sometimes gets further but have seen it come up with a I/O error. I have changed the board and still have the same problems. Could it be a hd issue? Or optical drive? As I have seen it on both boards were sometimes in the bios it shows my dvdrw as all gobbly goook on the description for it. I'm running a q9450 chip with a maximus II P45 board and raptor x hd

hi, am borrowing one tomorrow a IDE one. The ram I'm using ATM is 4gb OCZ pc6400 gold stuff

If you are installing Vista as Vista not Vista SP1, you will need pull some of that RAM so you only have 2 GB, it will fail on 4GB.

You can install the 4GB once your installed and on SP1 (pre SP1 there was a Patch for this issue).

i've had 6GB DDR2 installed before with Pre SP1 with no issues.

Just tried 2GB lastnight with XP and it hanged on 34% on the installing the devices. When it hanged im fairly sure I heard a click noise - I reckon it's my Raptor X thats causing me grief.

same issues as before, New HD from WD arrived today ( WD 160 Raptor ) and its doing exactly the same. on 32bit XP SP2 it hangs on "installing devices" on the scroll bar with 35mins left on the install.

on Vista Pre SP1 it hangs on the scroll bar at the very start.

mobo has been changed, HD changed, 2 graphics cards ( 4870's ) a friend of mine tested my ram with the memtest program and that came back as ok.

this issue is drivin me nuts.

I have a galaxy 1000watt enermax psu, Q9450 CPU, 1x IDE DvD rom, 1x Sata DVDRW.

any help is appreciated.
