Annoying Chime or Ping sound every minute

My laptop (HP DM4) has started to chime or ping every minute or so without any involvement from me. With nothing running or me using it, I get a really annoying chime sound every minute or so and I lost if I know what it is. Anyone got any pointers?

Download Autoruns and untick all the crap you don't need at startup. Uninstall all the HP crap too.

Also disable windows sounds (my personal preference)

You don't have Windows Live Mail running do you?

I ran MSConfig and removed all the crap I could see, I don't have Windows Mail Live running no.

Also check to see if it isn't a wireless configuration utility. Reminds me of one "case of the unexplained" from Mark Russinovich's blog and that's what it turned out to be.

I’m interested to see if there is a fix for this as it sounds quite a lot like what my wife’s laptop (its a 14" HP can't remember model from memory) is doing. Hers is making a beeping noise that does not seem to come from the speakers. Sometimes its every couple of seconds sometimes it does not do it for an hour or two I’ve tried a complete restore of the machine which seemed to solve it until I told her she could go ahead and start putting all her crap/programs back on it then it was off again beep beep beep

Its possible its some kind of facebook overload alarm lol

Its quite annoying really
