Annoying COD4 MW1 punkbuster error

Basically everytime I try and play COD4 MW1 online, i get removed from any server with punkbuster on with an error complaining about a program/driver im supposedly using lol. It's basically making the game unplayable online, which is a shame

I have updated punkbuster and rechecked for updates etc but its still doing the same thing

Ideas?

Do you launch from Steam?

Ive recently started getting this, regardless of the fact ive launched from a Steam shortcut forever.

Main culprits are older versions of fraps, evga precision (and some other apps that use an overlay) and non-official/leaked and beta versions of drivers especially nVidia and ATI GPU drivers.

Is it 125120 disallowed driver? As above, PB seems to be very touchy about overlays, I just had it after trying COD4 for the first time in about 4 months :/

Im using beta 10.1 ATI drivers which are the latest out of all builds from guru3d so that might be the culprit. Yeah its the steam version, highly annoying error!

Getting kicked from COD4 and WAW at the moment because of this.

I cant run it without steam though as I bought it through that on release lol. I never use fraps
