annoying css error...grrr

Installed steam, css and source SDK today(after a loooong wait lol). The main reason was to use hammer to do some architectural design ideas for my graphics coursework at school.. how ever i get this error when i try to run the video stress test, or even create a server with no bots....

'Counter-Strike HL2.exe error- application error'
'The instruction at "0x0f933e2c" referenced memory as "0x0d77a10a". The meomory could not be "read". Click okay to terminate the program.

And i end up back at my desktop, lol, can load the game fine, just cant really go anywhere from the main menu. Im aware this is a common problem but cant remeber how to solve it, I had this a year or 2 ago when i first played css.

Sure someone can help me please :)

nah got a e6300, ds3, 2gb of corsair xms2 and a x1800t all of it at stock. Already sent this ram back once for testing and nout wrong with it....

edit: tried both at resolutions 1024x768 and 1280x1024 same thing happens, altho i get to a black screen at 1024x768 b4 i get the error...

kin ell! lol, bit of a pain really, i assume their working to fix this and theres no way to roll back to a previous update?

also when using SDK- Hammer, i cant see a thing in the camera box on the design view, another fault from valve, or just me being plain stupid? lol
 
ive tried that too and its made no difference at all! lol cant even run *** video stress test, which is all i really want to do, and make some maps, still cant see anything on the camera view on hammer tho....
 
nice one $loth, disconnecting from the net allowed me to run my maps ive made and run the stress test with an average of 198 fps :D marvelous, whilst connected to the net i get that error tho, very wierd, lol
