Has anyone else noticed that car manufacturers seem to be particularly bad at using annoying and badly designed flash adverts?

Have a look at Honest John. Try rolling your mouse over the Nissan advert at the top. Then try to get rid of the advert so you can actually read the website. WTF

I've no problems with websites recovering their costs through advertising, but several people need to have a word with themselves over these adverts. I remember (amongst others) a Peugeot advert doing the rounds a while back that refused to go away making the What Car site unusable. Who the **** signed this advert off as being ready for distribution?

Grrr.

I'm using basic IE6. Where's the advert?

edit: If it's alongside the HonestJohn picture at the top, it could be coming from http://ad.uk.doubleclick.net, in which case open up C:\$windir$\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS (or make a shortcut to it from, for example, My Docs) and add the doubleclick.net domain as follows:

Clear out the Temp Internet Files and it might be sorted. You can find copies of HOSTS files to d/l on the net with a huge amount of stuff already filtered for you :)

edit2: That was my first time on the honestjohn site. There are still some unblocked ads below the site navigation box. If you right-click on them you can see they appear to be hosted on the same site you are viewing - I don't think these can be prevented, although sometimes you'll find they are on a subhost like, for example, ads.honestjohn.co.uk, which could be blocked.

HTH
