Annoying mouse lag issues

Heya guys, been having some really annoying mouse lag issues over the last week, it jerks around the screen every now and then and mouse clicks get delayed for a second or two. Does it both when playing games (Makes my cross hair stick / wont stop firing) and makes it impossible to aim, it also does it when the system is under no load what so ever. Tried a fresh install of windows and its even running from an SSD now without change.

Specs are:
i5 2500k
8gb kingston hyper x grey
msi p67a-g45
6950 HD 2gb
Mouse and keyboard combo are the Microsoft Wireless desktop 2000

I've tried new batteries, receiver in multiple ports (Front + Back) and I've even raised the PC up so it has a better line of sight and it hasn't helped.

Any ideas?
 
i had this problem with my mouse and it turned out to be cat hairs in the sensor under neath the mouse... try cleaning that out and see if that helps... btw, don't let cats near your system!

Shame it's a wired mouse and not what I'm after. My old Microsoft 600 (cheap) mouse + keyboard was fine, the 2000 isnt. I've cleaned it, new batteries, tried multiple driver installs etc. Even tried sitting about 30cm from the reciever
 
Yeah tried my old wireless microsoft mouse (600 I think) and it worked better but still not 100%, after a quick google It seems loads of people have the same problem with different mice and it persists between installs, all on Win7. It's worse when under heavy load (a large scale attack in Planetside2 for instance) but seeing as PS2 barely stresses my CPU but has my GPU under 80% load I don't see how it could affect it.
 
That has always been my experience to one degree or another with wireless mice I really don't see them as acceptable for gaming.

Its possible its an issue with USB selective suspend but that doesn't usually happen at random its usually a problem from a fresh install onwards until you change the settings for it.
 
You need to get a wired mouse to test it. At least then you'll know if it's a problem with your current wireless one or with your PC/Windows
 
Well my old mouse worked flawlessly, replace my mobo on warrentee and + install an ssd and a fresh install of Windows7 and neither my new or old mouse works properly now.
 
Anything new in the house or the area that could be causing interference with the mice? I had quite a problem with my old Microsoft Wireless 800 mouse, games seemed as if they were running really badly as movements were not smooth. Wired mouse now and they are all great!
 
Nothing new, only thing changed is the addition of a SSD, replacement RMA mobo (exactly the same) and a fresh install but I had issues before all this. I've also moved the computer but I'm about the same distance apart and get better (but still bad) performance up close. I would go wired but my monitor is a 42" tv and it's at the end of my bed so having wires all over the place would not work so great.

I was thinking about a 2port usb extension down the side of my bed but again, wires everywhere.
