OK just recently upgraded my PC so I decided to cascade the old parts down to my 2nd PC that was running a P3 1.7Ghz, 512mb PC133, geforce mx(something - can't remember)- the parts that were replacing these were an Abit NF7, Barton 3200+, 1gb pc3200, ATI Radeon 9800.

The PSU also had to be changed as it was a measly bog standard 230w PSU which I doubted was up to the job so in came a new Coolermaster iGreen 430w PSU.

Anyway hooked it all up today, fitted the MB, hooked up the PSU, CPU and RAM were already in, added the Gfx card. Things looked good when I switched it on, all the fans started spinning, case fans, cpu fan, power supply but nothing on the monitor !!!!

Strange... I checked everything was in secure, the Radeon had power but still no picture. I tried plugging in a HDD to check that was getting power which it did which made me think that it definitely wasn't a power issue. Next tried taking out the RAM and using just 1 stick in the non-dual channel slot... still nothing (same with the other stick), next tried changing to the older Geforce AGP card and still nothing. To be honest I think I've tried everything other than the CPU which seems to me to be the only thing left and to make it even harder the PC speaker is knackered so I'm not getting any clues there either.

I'm looking for ideas cos I'm all out of them to be honest

you tried building it outside the case and seeing if it still works ?

Nope - but would that actually make a difference though? Plus I've always had reservations about that, never really sure what to rest the board on !!
