If I view a photo which was shot with a high ISO in the Lightroom develop module, and I have the whole image showing, it looks noisy no matter how much noise reduction I apply. Only when I zoom into the image can I see the result of the noise reduction.

It's incredibly annoying. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Unfortunately I don't think you can, I think the same applies in Photoshop where you don't see the effects of some adjustments until you go 100%.

For the noise reduction there is the small preview window by it but I agree it doesn't help much.

The only solution I've found is to:

a) use the split screen before and after preview; or
b) do the above, but open up the 2nd monitor view which will show the amended image

Scrap that - it shows up immediately on Loupe view having had a play with it. Click on the [1] monitor setting on the bottom left to bring up all the options (more with a multi monitor setup)
