Annoying things about self builds?

I have still got a cupboard full of boxes in case In had to return something and they are all about 10 times bigger than the item they had in them

I keep the boxes, so I can package stuff up and sell it on later.
Half my stuff was bought second hand anyway, and it's always nicer when someone retains all the proper protective packaging.

Even if you don't keep it, though, cardboard is recycleable, right?

The most annoying thing - I'd have to say building the PC and finding the 8pin EPS cable is about 1cm too short. I keep a spare 8pin extension on hand just for this reason.

All the long phone calls for help, advice and the eventual guilt trip drive over to help them: assemble, fault diagnostics and install 'their' self build.

When you can't get 5.1 sound to pass through your TV to your amp, so order a new build with optical port.
Only to find out that a couple of config tweaks in pc and TV you actually can pass the sound through.
Oh well it was only £500 spent.:o:(

You see what the machine did to the reindeer’s legs?! Imagine that happening to your expensive bit of kit...

When you just realise that you’ve no idea if your HSF had pre applied thermal paste on it and you installed it a week ago! It’s a Ryzen 2700 using the stock cooler - they do have preapplied paste. Don’t they?!?

Yes they do :), if it didn't it would overheat and turn the pc off under very very light load.
