Annoying USB Issue

Has anyone had problems with USB struggling to recognise something you've plugged in?

I have a CF card reader always plugged into a USB port. When I add a card it doesn't always seem to recognise it in windows. If I then remove the USB plug and put it back in again it recognises it everytime.

What exactly is going on there?

Tried disabling Fast Boot, if it's on?

Thanks so much Danny. This appears to have been what caused it. How weird. Any idea why that interferes with it?

Glad it did the trick for you. Some fast boot modes don't power up USB ports etc until the system knows they are needed, which can sometimes only happen when you plug something into a port with the system on.
