annoying whistling sound

just installed a modxtream 700w modular psu, and a asus gtx 275. have no idea if i have set the psu up correctly but im guessing i have because all the components are detected and the fans etc are all running.

anyway, i have noticed a strange whistling almost timely faint beeping sound coming from inside the computer, it seems to be coming from the bottom half. either the PSU or the graphics card - although i cant seem to exactly pinpoint it.

any ideas what this could be? although theres quite a few wires in there from the modular psu ive arranged them as neatly as possible and they arent obstructing anything.

any ideas? its really driving me crazy.

There was a post a while back with a similar problem, and iirc it turned out to be to be one of the fans blowing towards another and created a strange noise.

Try moving the fan(s) to see if this is the case, if not can you reduce the speed of the fans to see which is causing the probs.

More of a whine than a whistling sound, but it could be 'coil whine' from the GTX275. Fairly common and from what I've read the extent to which you are affected is a complete lottery.

My 4890 had terrible coil whine over the first few days of use but then having settled it has completely disappeared.

Yeah sounds (no pun intended) like coil whine, does it change pitch or volume when you put load on the gfx card from a game / benchmark prog? Short of changing either the psu or card it will be difficult to say which it is but my money would be on the gfx card too.

it doesnt seem to change pitch its pretty constant. its pretty timely and stays the same. the best way i could describe it is just a faint almost morse code like pitch which stays consistant. Im pretty sure it wasnt happening before the install of the new gpu/psu.

One thing i have noticed is the graphics card seems to make a very loud noise compared to the other fans which lasts for about 2 seconds and only when booting the computer up.

Going to check all the fans and and try and pin point the location!
