If anyone could help me, it would be great. My case is nothing special, im not even sure what the make is but thats not too important I dont think because my problem is probably common enough with any case from time to time.

Basically I get an infuriating whirring noise every couple of seconds. Other than the whirring its a really quiet build. It generally goes like this:

...wwwhhhiiiiRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrr........wwwhhhiiiiRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrr...... repeat forever.

Its not quite a noticable with the case sides and top off but its still there. Should I tighten the screws, loosen the screws? Any ideas would be great! Thanks!

Put your finger on the middle of each fan center to stop from spinning, if the sound stops then you have identified the faulty fan.

Replace it.

Either dampen all your fans with silicone gaskets and check you're not running a +ve or -ve pressure case as this can cause it as the fans get artificially sped up.

Also check your hard discs by booting from a usb drive with them unplugged

The actual fans themselves are pretty quiet, I was surprised. Its definitely some vibration somewhere....

Im trying to create some almost like 'shock absorbers' for under the case to see if that makes any difference

I bet you it's hard drive vibration. Remove hard drives from system and check for the vibration.

If you find the 'whirr' gone then do this....

Had the same problem with every quietish system I've built. These days I just suspend and never use drive bays like they are intended.

It's not thread it's bungee cord. It's an multi elastic cored cord with a strong material weave on top.

And no I'm not concerned.

Ah nice! Wish I had some of that laying around, all I have is string which.. probably isn't a good idea. Lol. I've taken my case apart and put it back together again and its not quite so bad, just every now and then it becomes noticable and I have to put pressure on the case either at the top or sides. Wierd stuff.

Actually scratch that, it is just as bad, infact its now even more annoying due to the fact ive spent all that time screwing and unscrewing everything in that case. Ridiculous. Why are drive bays built in such a manner that any vibration noise is picked up, radiated around, and even enhanced by the way cases are designed and put together?? aargh
