anonymizing

i was using "stumble upon" when i came to this site here and it said that i didnt have an "anonymizing" service etc.... so i started to think well is it just hype about being anonymous or not and if so what can i use to make myself "Anonymous" on the interweb

If you're talking about anonymous web proxies (google it), you can use them to get around the web site blocking tools on a network.
We used to use them at college to get around the harsh filters they used so we could access stuff like Hotmail etc.

i know that i was wanting progs to over come this ?? so people maybes cant see my ip etc............

Someone has to be able to see it, or you aren't going to get any data coming back to you. That someone's quite probably logging your IP, so you're effectively achieving nothing useful.
So yes, it is just hype.
