Anonymous caller reject should be standard

I have this problem all the time. I think the number I have has been recycled several times, I'm registered with TPS but get several sales calls, dead calls and so on a night. Plus loads of international calls asking to speak to people.

The solution is simple, the line's only needed for broadband so I only plug in the phone when I need to call an 0800, at all other times I use the mobile.

Once my area gets fibre and mobiles can dial 0800s for free, I'll no longer need a land line.

Our telephone provider (Jersey Telecom) offers a free service to block all anonymous calls. If someone wants to call they simply dial 1470 to release their number and hey presto.

On the flip side, I am required to have my home phone number as ex-directory due to work which does cause some problems with people refusing to answer my calls (especially my eldest son!) but I also just need to dial 1470 if I struggle to get through.

Ex-directory just means it isn't listed in the telephone directory, it doesn't withold the number.

I don't get many unsolicited calls on my moblie.

If I could find a way to block those ******* PPI claim texts though I'd be happy.

Create a whitelist so only your contacts will be able to text you.

If I get a call from a witheld number during the day it's 99% sure to be my boss or a member of my team, so I answer it.

If its not PPI it be the next money making scam. Yes there are companies that need to use anonymous numbers but with my company all calls get put though a generic fixed local number so that people know who's calling them.

To me, answering an anonymous call is like talking to someone that's hiding their face, there's no need for it and it's rude. Even people that carry out street survey or door to door sales are easy to spot and run away from, and when a phone rings; normally at the most inconvenient time by the time its woke you up or made you drop what you are doing and walk to the phone and I've discovered I didn't have too, its **** me off before I've even answered it!

Wish i had a pound for every text i got from people saying im due a ppi refund

I also get a few phone calls a day too

3 phone calls a day about ppi claims, ive never had a loan, a credit card or a mortgage in my life. It does my head in.

One thing that annoys me is the lack of being able to block international calls coming in. The vast majority of people could do this to stop all the foreign call centres spamming us at all hours. When I was on Virgin Media business line, they couldn't do something simple like that so changed to VoIP system which is far better.
