I want a new monitor to replace my BenQ 24 " 2410T at 120 Hz, after purchasing a 3070 I realise my monitor has no DP ports and has only HDMI 1.3, so no 120 Hz refresh, adapters are limited or won't work!
My wish list is:
- 1440p
- 27" size
- G-Sync compatible
- => 120 Hz
- and to a lesser extent HDR
I game, browse and do coding on my PC.

I really like the looks of the LG 27" 27GP850-B

LG 27" 27GP850-B 2560x1440 NANO IPS 165Hz 1ms FreeSync/G-Sync Compatible Widescreen Gaming Monitor

but after reading a few threads here some say the LG contrast ratio is poor compared to, say, the two equivalent MSI monitors with similar specs.
So how much would I notice the low contrast (I know that is a very subjective Q, but give me your experiences) and is the VA technology in the MSI's good for what I do on the PC? The only thing stopping me getting one of the MSI monitors are the curved nature and they do not explicitly state G-Sync compatibility!

Any other monitors that I have missed that you'd recommend over the LG?

Thanks!

In my experience VA panels will suffer from ghosting that isn't apparent on both IPS and TN panels. It's especially bad with light on dark/vice versa. I'm not 100% sure about how badly the MSI panels will feature this but it's recently made me ditch a superwide Huawei monitor in favour of the Dell 272721DGF that I had before (I've now bought another one of these). I'm pretty certain it's in the nature of the panel tech, so there likely isn't much they can do. Have a Google ref this and see if you think it would bother you, it certainly bothered me.

:edit: just read you're coming from a TN panel. Unless you find you're unhappy with the deepness of blacks on your current monitor, you probably won't care much about that, but you will almost certainly notice the huge increase in response time coming from the a blazing fast TN screen, this is what causes the ghosting I refer to. Personally I'd stick with IPS, I have no experience with that LG screen, but I'm pretty sure it shares its panel with the Dell 2721DGF I mention. Oh and unless you really care about HDR, from my understanding no monitors in this price range are going to be doing it very well. My knowledge is outdated mind, hopefully someone with more of a recent clue will check in and offer advice!
